Santa Claus Area Attracts Big Tourism Numbers

(SANTA CLAUS) - There’s good news for Spencer County.

A new study reveals tourism is big business for the area. The study shows the average number of nights visitors stay is 2.8 days--which is a whole day more than the state average. The average visitor spends 10 dollars on apparel and souvenirs, 36 dollars on lodging, 21 dollars on food, and 51 dollars on activities.

Local tourism officials are also very excited to learn that 80 percent of visitors stated they were very pleased with their trip to Spencer County and 84 percent said they would be back. The study was conducted last summer.

Spencer County's attractions include Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Santa's Candy Castle, Santa Claus Museum, Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, Lincoln State Park, Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum.
