(UNDATED) - A study on the repeal of property taxes finds it feasible in Indiana.
Advance America released results of a study done by IU Professor Dr. Craig Johnson. The study finds repealing the tax would work with a 2 percent sales tax increase and a 1 percent income tax hike. The study also claims the state would save over 100 million dollars in administrative costs.
Advance America Executive Director Eric Miller says the main goal after a constitutional amendment to repeal the tax would be to control state and local government spending.
The study is accompanied by an Advance America poll claiming over half of Hoosiers want property taxes gone.
Miller hand-delivered copies of the study and poll to several lawmakers and the governor.
