Last updated on Monday, January 7, 2008

(CHARLESTOWN) - State prison inmates could soon return to work as firefighters in the Southern Indiana community of Charlestown.

The program was suspended after some residents said the inmates were not properly supervised.

The inmates are used during the day, when volunteer firefighters are at work.
