Police Enhance Security Tapes To Spot Nightclub Shooter

Last updated on Thursday, January 3, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indy Metro Police are hoping security tapes will lead them to whoever opened fire inside a packed nightclub early on New Year’s Day.

Shots were fired as security guards scrambled to get people into the parking lot outside Durty Nelly's Eatery and Pub. One guard was killed, two more were wounded. Two party-goers were also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Sergeant Paul Thompson says it will take them a couple days to ID the suspects by enhancing the tapes to get close-ups. Thompson says police want to talk to anyone who saw anything that night at the bar.

Thompson says they have talked to a few eyewitnesses already, but low lighting inside the club made it hard to see who was shooting.
