Locomotives Collide In CSX Rail Yard

(AVON) - A train collided with over a hundred rail cars that weren't supposed to be on the same track early Sunday.

The collision derailed the two locomotives and 35 of the cars sitting on the CSX tracks in Indianapolis.

The westbound train had just left Indianapolis. It struck a group of 112 rail cars that were accidentally released onto the track from the CSX yard in Avon. The force of the collision derailed the locomotives injuring the two engineers onboard.

35 of the 112 rail cars struck by the train derailed. Haz mat crews contained over three-thousand gallons of diesel fuel.

A team from CSX Railroad worked on Sunday to clean up the mess which included a large amount of soybean oil.
