(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Zoo had a record number of people through the gates in 2007.

Attendance increased by 12 percent over 2006, with close to 1.2 million people coming out.

Zoo President Mike Crowther says they've done plenty to promote themselves and the location is a big boost as well. Crowther says people love coming to Indianapolis and the White River State Park.

Crowther says the zoo hosted a number of special exhibits last year, in an effort to get the crowds in.
