(UNDATED) - Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels got a tour of the flood zone in North Central Indiana Wednesday.
Daniels saw the rising waters from both the air and on the ground. Daniels commended Hoosiers for helping each other out and not "waiting for Washington D.C. and FEMA."
Despite that, Daniels says the state will tally up the damages in several counties and make a request for federal aid very soon.
Daniels made stops in Monticello and Winamac. Monticello was very hard hit by high water.
Along the I-65 corridor, standing water could be seen in many places and many of the roads coming off overpasses were covered. The Wabash River looked as though it had burst from its seams.
