First Of Four In Court In Hovey Street Murder Case

Last updated on Tuesday, January 22, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS) - One of the men in custody in the quadruple murders in Indianapolis has appeared in court.

21-year-old Zarumin Coleman is charged on a community corrections violation for leaving work release over a year ago, and a probation violation. No formal charges concerning the murders have been filed and prosecutors are not sure when they will be.

Attorney Kenneth Roberts says Coleman was not at the home during the killings. Roberts also says Coleman will not face the death penalty. The prosecutor's office cannot comment on Coleman's prior charges since he is involved in an ongoing investigation.

The prosecutor's office is filing a 72-hour continuance in the Hovey Street case. Two women and their two infants were gunned down a little over a week ago on Indianapolis' Northeast side.
