(VALPARAISO) - Gary police say they have finally made an arrest in the murder of an 8-year-old boy in 1979.
Kenneth Conrick's mutilated body was found tied to a tree in a wooded area near his house after a 13-day search.
The search for his alleged killer ended Tuesday, with the arrest in Kingfield, Maine of David Bruce Bowen, Conrick's onetime neighbor and occasional baby sitter.
Bowen will be extradited to Lake County this week.
