Volunteer Firefighters Charged With Setting Fires

Last updated on Wednesday, December 5, 2007

(NOBLESVILLE) - Two volunteer firefighters are charged with setting fires in abandoned buildings in Northern Hamilton County.

Twenty-one-year-old Adam Sampson of Tipton is charged with arson, burglary and conspiracy to commit arson, all felonies. Twenty-three-year-old Dustin Ables of Sharpsville is charged with arson and conspiracy. Both of them were released from the Hamilton County Jail on bond yesterday.

Vicky Dunbar, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, says Sampson was a Jackson Township volunteer firefighter at the time he is accused of starting fires in two abandoned farm houses and an outbuilding this summer in the town of Atlanta.

She says Sampson confessed to an unrelated theft and implicated Ables, another Jackson Township volunteer.
