Last updated on Tuesday, December 11, 2007

(MARION) - Grant County sheriff’s deputies say a Marion teen who died in a truck explosion Sunday was killed by a homemade bomb.

Authorities say 19-year-old Russell Cox had set up a bomb that was supposed to be activated by a timer, but when the bomb failed to go off, Cox went back to his truck to check it out. That's when the device exploded.

He was rushed to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where he later died.
