Shoppers: Don't Leave Kids In Car

Last updated on Monday, December 17, 2007

(UNDATED) - With Indiana mall parking lots being very packed before Christmas, police are a stern warning for parents - don’t leave your kids in the car.

A Noblesville couple was arrested recently for child neglect because they allegedly left their two-year-old in the car while they went into a store.

Indianapolis Police Department Sergeant Matt Mount says they see more and more cases of parents doing this, thinking they'll only be in the store for a few minutes. Mount says that could eventually land you in hot water with the law and put a mark on your permanent record.

Mount is also advising shoppers not to overburden themselves with packages and be very aware of their surroundings when walking to the car. He also says, if you can, shop during daylight hours.
