Mother And 3 Daughters Killed In Icy Car Crash

Last updated on Monday, December 17, 2007

(CARMEL) - Carmel police say icy conditions probably played a role in a fatal car crash over the weekend.

47-year-old Batul Abbas lost control of her van and slid off the north side of the roadway into a retaining pond. Abbas called 911 as her vehicle sank below the surface.

She and her three daughters, ages 8, 14 and 18, were trapped until dive teams came to their rescue. They were taken to the hospital, but all four died Sunday as a result of their injuries.
