Geist Can't Form Own Town, Judge Says

Last updated on Saturday, December 15, 2007

(NOBLESVILLE) - A Hamilton County judge says the upscale Geist neighborhood can’t form its own towns.

Geist residents had started the process of incorporating as east and west Geist, to avoid being annexed by Fishers. A judge says they can't, because Fishers started the annexation process first.

Fishers town attorney Doug Church says Geist's incorporation plan completely omits some services, including police and parks, and would lead to higher taxes than the area would pay as part of Fishers.

The town plans a hearing Wednesday on its annexation proposal.
