(EVANSVILLE) - The problem of homelessness is staying “consistent” in Evansville.
That word from the resource coordinator for the "Destination Home" program. It's a ten-year effort designed to end homelessness in the community that is now in it's third year.
One problem that continues is people being released from institutions like jails and ending up with no place to go.
Coordinator Luzada Hayes says "Destination Home" hopes to add a person through sponsorships to help deal with that problem. She says they're also working with an Indianapolis developer to create a 60-unit supported housing complex for singles in the community.
She says all of "Destination Home's" program are in jeopardy right now... if the President vetoes a "HUD" spending bill. She says that could cost Evansville as much as $1.3-million-dollars that helps support programs to assist the homeless.
