Day-Care Centers To Receive State Rankings

Last updated on Wednesday, December 5, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The state will begin ranking Indiana day-care facilities next month.

The Family and Social Services Administration will rate care centers on a one-to-four scale developed by the Early Childhood Alliance in Northeast Indiana.

At level one, facilities meet the minimum standard of keeping kids healthy and safe. Level two means the environment supports children's learning. Level three signifies a planned curriculum to get kids ready for school. At level four, the center has national accreditation.

FSSA will phase in the rankings over the course of the year.
