Coroner Amazed At 0.6% Blood Alcohol Level

Last updated on Tuesday, December 18, 2007

(PINOLA) - LaPorte County must be a dangerous place to operate any sort of vehicle.

A LaPorte County coroner says he's never seen a blood alcohol content so high as that of a man who was killed Saturday night in a crash with an Amtrak train.

The LaPorte County Coroner said the victim had a blood alcohol level of 0.6%. People can be charged with drunken driving if the level is 0.08% or higher.

In other strange incidents in LaPorte over a month's time, one man rammed a snowman with his truck sending its head through a nearby car window, another man allegedly stole an airplane to impress his girlfriend and set its engine on fire, and a couple teens allegedly stole a pair of fire trucks for a joy ride.
