Congresswoman Julia Carson Dies

(INDIANAPOLIS) - 7th District Congresswoman Julia Carson died this morning.

It was two weeks ago that Carson announced she was dying of lung cancer. She had also determined that she wouldn't seek re-election to a seventh term next year.

Carson was first elected to congress in 1996. She had previously served in the Indiana House of Representatives, and as a center township trustee.

Julia Carson was 69 years old.
