Woman Gives Birth, Stores Newborn In Basement

Last updated on Saturday, November 17, 2007

(PATOKA) - Police arrested a 22-year-old Gibson County woman after they found her newborn child in a box in the basement of her home.

Vanessa Robinson arrived at the hospital complaining of abdominal pain. That's when doctors discovered she had just given birth.

Because Robinson wouldn't discuss the whereabouts of the child, state police searched her home. They found the newborn wrapped in a towel in a box.

Robinson is facing a preliminary charge of neglect causing death. She's in the Gibson County jail on 100,000 dollars bond.
