(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Marion County prosecutor’s office is making a plea for anyone who was scammed by a phony ticket ring to come forward.
Three men were arrested last weekend during the Patriots-Colts game, with a car filled with counterfeit tickets.
Prosecutor Carl Brizzi says the key to catching these scam artists is witness testimony. He estimates several hundred people got scammed by these men.
The Pats-Colts game was the hottest ticket in town and people lost thousands of dollars purchasing the phony tickets.
Brizzi says he expects the defense to claim the men simply bought the tickets online and didn't know they were fake. But, Brizzi says investigators also found counterfeit tickets for other sporting events in the car, including some major college football match-ups.
Ticket scalping is legal in Indiana, except for college sporting events.
Brizzi says anyone who was scammed can call his office at 327-5600.
