(GASTON) - A retired Ball State University music professor died Friday in Gaston.

Charles Kuhn and his two beagles, George and Albert were inside an upstairs bedroom in their home when it caught fire. Fire officials believe the fire was caused by an electric baseboard heater in the dining room.

Kuhn started out as a piano instructor at Ball State in 1966. He was promoted to an assistant professor in 1974, he retired in 1994.

Kuhn was known for being able to play anything on the piano. He was 78-years old at the time of his death.
