Last updated on Thursday, November 22, 2007

(LAFAYETTE) - Authorities say a car pulled from the Red River in Bossier City, Louisiana belongs to a former Lafayette man who was last seen in January 1997.

A firefighter diving team discovered the car during a training exercise.

Jeffrey Timmons was a staff sergeant with the Air Force when he went absent without leave.

There were no human remains found in the car. Police are unsure how long the vehicle was in the water.
