(NOBLESVILLE) - A Westfield police officer is facing charges of shaking down Latino drivers.

Lieutenant Scott Fross is accused of making at least four traffic stops where he demanded money, in lieu of a ticket or an arrest. Fross is charged with four counts of armed robbery because he was carrying his police-issued firearm at the time of the offenses.

Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter says he expects more victims to come forward. He says some have been afraid to speak up because of the language barrier and fear of deportation.

Fross could face as much as 80 years in prison if convicted.

Carter says the 10-year veteran was investigated last year for a similar incident, but was never charged. Officially, Carter says Fross's record has been exemplary.
