(COLUMBIA CITY) - A 21-year-old Columbia City man was killed when the car he was riding in crashed into a police car.

James Mays was a passenger in a car driven by 16-year-old Kaycee Bills. Investigators say Bills lost control of her car on top of a hill Saturday afternoon. Her car struck a Columbia City squad car.

The officer driving the car, 52-year-old Master Patrolman Larry Creech, was taken to Parkview Hospital in Whitley County where he was treated for a cut on his head.

Bills is hospitalized in fair condition at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Police say she suffered a broken jaw, back and hip.

Police say no charges have been filed.
