(MARION) - A Marion doctor and his wife are dead following a plane crash near Hinesville, Georgia.
The staff of Dr. Om Prakash Rahil confirmed the couple's death Thursday afternoon. Reports indicate the Rahis were enroute to visit family in Georgia when their single engine Cherokee plane went down.
Officials with the Marion Municipal Airport say Dr. Rehil was not instrument rated and would have been relying on visual ground contact in order to stay in the air with the bad weather in the area.
The crash is under investigation.
