Indy Reserve Officer Gets 30 Years Behind Bars

Last updated on Tuesday, October 2, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis metro reserve police officer convicted of dealing marijuana in uniform has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Christopher Spaulding pleaded guilty to marijuana dealing, theft, and using a gun in a drug offense.

Prosecutors say Spaulding pulled over a Mexican drug dealer, robbed him of seven-thousand dollars, and split it with the informant who'd tipped him off. Problem was, the informant was working with already-suspicious police.

Spaulding's also accused of faking a police run to steal 20 pounds of pot from a hotel room in a second FBI setup.

Spaulding's wife and mother received probation for acting as accomplices.
