Last updated on Wednesday, October 3, 2007

(LAFAYETTE) - A five-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a car in Lafayette Tuesday morning.

Lafayette police say Dynasty Wortham was walking to Glen Acres Elementary when the accident happened.

Investigators say the girl was crossing Greenbush Street at Shenandoah Drive just before 7:30, when she was hit by a car traveling east on Greenbush. Two older siblings walking with the first-grader were not injured.

A crossing guard is usually at that intersection around 7:40 and the school serves breakfast at 7:45. Classes at Glen Acres begin at 8:25.
