Charges Dropped After Recruit Drops And Gives 50

Last updated on Monday, October 8, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A prosecutor dropped charges against a defendant Friday after the man dropped down and did 50 push-ups.

20-year-old Chase Allen faced charges for misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct. The marine recruit had been accused of refusing to leave a bed at an Indianapolis hospital - after being discharged.

On Friday, he made an unusual agreement with the prosecutor - have the charges dismissed by doing push-ups. As a uniformed marine recruiter encouraged Allen, he finished his push-ups - and received applause from the gallery.

Allen may now report to boot-camp.
