Arizona Prisoner Faces Additional Murder Charges

(KOKOMO) - Kokomo police have charged a man in a murder and kidnapping that occurred on January 21st, 2003.

70-year-old Joseph Pate had been found dead in his home. 57-year-old Mary Pate went missing and was thought to have been taken in the couple's van. Police in Arizona found Mary Pate unharmed the next day at a rest stop.

The suspect, Jerry Bracket had struck two officers with the couple's stolen van and shots were exchanged. Brackett was wounded and was later convicted in Arizona and is serving time there.

Just a few days ago a warrant was issued for Bracket out of Howard County charging him with murder, rape, kidnapping and burglary.

Arrangements are being to bring Bracket back to Indiana.
