(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is encouraging residents to explore past and present cultures during Indiana Archaeology Month.
The DNR is sponsoring several events this month to promote the uncovering of information from the past. DNR Archaeology Outreach Coordinator Amy Johnson says state archaeologists will visit several Indiana communities, parks and universities this month to showcase artifacts that are thousands of years old.
Archeologists from Ball State University will ask volunteers to help them perform excavations at Mounds State Park in Anderson on September 15-16.
A complete list of Indiana Archaeology Month activities is available at www.in.gov/dnr/historic.
