Motorcycle Tops 140mph In Chase With State Troopers

Last updated on Tuesday, September 11, 2007

(FORT WAYNE) - Two men caused State Police near Fort Wayne a lot of trouble.

State police Master Trooper Mike Barman clocked a pair of motorcycles traveling 13mph over the speed limit on westbound US-30, and proceeded to make the stop.

When Barman turned on his lights, one of the riders looked back, and took off to speeds exceeding 140mph.

The yellow Suzuki "crotch-rocket" blew through a road block set up in Columbia City and proceeded south to South Whitley, going faster than 130mph. All police units lost sight of the bike in Kosciusko County.

Shortly afterward, sheriff's officials in the county got a call from a citizen saying they had a matching person; police made the arrest and arrested his accomplice nearby.

Both bikes had been stolen from a dealership in Tiffin, OH.
