Deputies Welcomed To Home By Python

Last updated on Thursday, September 27, 2007

(PLAINFIELD) - Hendricks County sheriff’s deputies got a bit of a surprise Thursday when they went to a home in Avon.

Inside, they found an abandoned Burmese python. Captain Brett Clark says the snake is between 10 and 14 feet long.

Deputies aren't sure why the family who lived at that address left the python behind. Clark says they are trying to find the people.

No word on whether they'll face animal cruelty charges.

The snake is now in the car of Hendricks County animal control.
