Daughter's Addiction To Internet Cause Of Child Neglect

Last updated on Tuesday, September 18, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The mother of a toddler found wandering on the interstate last year is headed to prison.

31 year-old Nancy Dyer got a year in prison, a year in-home detention, and a year probation. She told the judge Tuesday that she is sorry and made a very large mistake that allowed her three year old son's interstate stroll last December--she pleaded guilty in July to two counts of neglect.

The second count was filed after her two year old was found eating spaghetti from the trash--while mom slept.

Dyer says she messed up, but Deputy Prosecutor David Wyser disagrees. He calls dyer self-centered.

Dyer's attorney did not talk to the media, but her father says his daughter's addiction to the internet led to the children's neglect.
