Commercial Vehicle Enforcement To Rise

Last updated on Wednesday, September 12, 2007

(UNDATED) - State police from 5 states, including Indiana, will step up enforcement today of commercial vehicles.

Indiana State Police First Sergeant Dave Bursten says the enforcement will be on I-70 and the Indiana toll road from the Illinois and Ohio State lines and on I-64 from the Kentucky and Ohio state lines. Michigan State Police will also be part of the effort.

The combined enforcement project is aimed at the safety of commercial vehicle traffic. Police will be on the look out for moving violations, overweight vehicles, improper food transporters, and dyed fuel.

Dyed fuel refers to fuel that has been color coded to make sure it was purchased from a proper vendor and that taxes were paid to help maintain highways.

The multi state effort goes through 8:30 tonight.
