Homeless Murder Trial Begins Today

Last updated on Monday, July 9, 2007

(SOUTH BEND) - The trial for a man who police say helped to kill four homeless men and leave their bodies in South Bend manholes last December is set to begin today.

Randy Lee Reeder is charged in the deaths of Brian Talboom, Michael Lawson, James Coates, and Michael Nolen, Jr. Their bodies were found in manholes along railroad tracks.

Autopsies showed they were beaten to death with a hammer and pipe.

Police believe the motive was money from collecting and selling scrap metal.
