15-Year-Old Shooter Found Dead In Home

Last updated on Tuesday, June 19, 2007

(GEORGETOWN) - The 15 year-old boy accused of fatally shooting a Floyd County sheriff’s deputy and critically wounding a second officer has been found dead in his Georgetown home in Southern Indiana.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Jerry Goodin says the officers were fired upon by the teen while responding to a domestic call.

The teen has been identified as Tyler Dumstorf. His cause of death has not been released.

It's not exactly clear what caused the teen to fire the gun, but it possibly followed an argument with his mother.

Homes in the area were evacuated, but police say it is now safe to return home.

The officer killed is identified as Deputy Frank Denzinger. The officer critically wounded is Deputy Joel White.

Authorities plan a news conference at 1:30PM. today at the Floyd County Courthouse.
