Hoosier Sentry Drill At Muscatatuck Urban Training Center

Last updated on Tuesday, May 8, 2007

(MUSCATATUCK) - A simulated ten-kiloton nuclear bomb explosion will draw thousands of first responders to Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in Jennings County this week.

The 72-hour drill, called Hoosier Sentry, is part of a larger scale national drill called "Ardent Sentry."

Indiana Homeland Security Executive Director J. Eric Dietz says the exercise will use the training center, but it is designed to simulate a six-block area on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Camp Atterbury will be used as a staging area that is supposed to simulate the Indiana state Fairgrounds. About one thousand Indiana First responders from around the state will participate, as well as National Guardsmen from Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois.
