Hoosier Evangelist Dies

(CHATTANOOGA, TENN.) - An Indiana native who founded Tennessee Temple University has died.

Lee Roberson was born on a farm near English, in 1909 and began preaching at the age of 18.

He graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and served as a pastor and evangelist, eventually taking the pulpit at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga in 1942. Roberson died Sunday at the age of 97.
