Senior Fisherman Can Get Lifetime Licenses

Last updated on Tuesday, April 3, 2007

(STATEHOUSE) - A measure allowing Hoosier fishermen to spend less time in license renewal lines and more time on Indiana lakes and streams has been signed into law.

Governor Daniels has inked a bill which allows any Hoosier over the age of 64 to apply for a lifetime fishing license for just 17 dollars. Anglers can still purchase a license from year-to-year for an annual three dollar charge, as well.

Anyone born before April first of 1943 is covered under a bill provision which exempts them from having to buy a license.

Budget officials say the bill could mean an additional $44,000 dollars for the state in 2008 and 2009.
