Acclaimed Indianapolis Native Dies

Last updated on Thursday, April 12, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The author of such acclaimed novels as “Slaughterhouse-Five” and “Cat’s Cradle” has died.

Kurt Vonnegut, Junior--a native of Indianapolis--was 84. He suffered brain injuries several weeks ago in a fall at his home in Manhattan.

Ironically, 2007 had already been proclaimed the "Year of Vonnegut"--a celebration of his life and work.

He was scheduled to speak in Indianapolis later this month.
