Blauvelt Pleads Guilty To Murder

Last updated on Friday, March 30, 2007

(FORT WAYNE) - Ben Blauvelt pleaded guilty Thursday to an amended count of murder in the 1991 robbery and beating death of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne Professor Maurice Lam.

Prosecutors believe Blauvelt fled the state in 1992.

Lam's body was found floating in the St. Joseph River. Blauvelt was arrested in San Antonio in august after being stopped for a traffic violation.

Two co-defendants are serving prison time for the crime. Police believe the three conspired to kill Lam to get his credit cards and checkbooks.
