Anyone Can Raise A Morel!

Last updated on Tuesday, August 15, 2006

(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette biologist has patented breakthrough technology that will allow anyone to grow morel mushrooms.

Stewart Miller has devoted 15 years to the project and has now developed a 45-acre tract of land near Lafayette that will be home to thousands of trees inoculated with the prized morel fungus. Morels have attracted mushroom hunters for centuries.

Miller's patent will help people grow mushrooms in their own backyards and take away the guesswork about whether a wild mushroom found in the woods is safe. Anyone interested in raising morels can order inoculated trees at www.morel-farms.com. Each tree comes with instructions.
