Hoosier Lawmakers Split On Iraqi Timetable

Last updated on Monday, June 19, 2006

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Indiana’s U.S. House delegation split along party lines on a resolution rejecting the idea of a timetable for pulling out of Iraq.

Democrats Pete Visclosky and Julia Carson voted no, while all the state's Republican representatives voted yes except for Dan Burton, who didn't vote.

Sixth District Republican Mike Pence declared the U.S. is winning the war, and says in three trips to Iraq, every Indiana soldier he's talked to "believes in the nobility of the cause." The nonbinding resolution passed 256-153.
