(JASPER) - Military officials have announced the return of a local marine’s body is expected later this week, setting the stage for the final funeral preparations for Marine Cpl. Eric Lueken of Dubois.
An exact timetable has not been released, but according to a spokesperson with the Southern Indiana Leathernecks, the body will be escorted into Jasper.
A pre-planned, but yet unannounced route, will be followed and as Lueken's body is transported to the funeral home in Jasper, the residents along the route will have opportunity to show their respects.
Lueken was killed on April 22nd, when an improvised explosive device was detonated, as he was conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar Province.
