DNR Chief Says State Parks Are "Balanced"

Last updated on Friday, April 28, 2006

(UNDATED) - Summer is just about here and officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources say they have a “balanced budget” and are even expanding their services.

In the past, budget cuts have led to the DNR raising fees across the board for everything from hunting and fishing licenses to the cost of camping at the state parks.

DNR Chief Kyle Hupfer says they made some changes to save money, such as limiting hours of operation and putting a hiring freeze in place.

Hupfer says by increasing offerings at the state parks now - even more revenue will be generated.
