WEST LAFAYETTE--This Saturday Purdue University will hold its 23rd Rube Goldberg contest.

This year's amateur scientists must use at least 20 steps to shred a piece of paper.

The event begins at 10:30 and is free to the public.

The event honors the late cartoonist whose drawings showed very complicated ways to do simple tasks.
