(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis Colts defensive back Marlin Jackson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during practice on Wednesday.

The injury will require season-ending surgery.

It is the second-consecutive year that Jackson's season has come to a premature end due to a knee injury.

The Colts' first-round pick in the 2005 NFL draft tore two ligaments in his right knee in late October of 2008.

He had missed the previous three games after hurting his left knee against Seattle.

Jackson is in the final year of his contract.
