Astros Avoid Three-Game Sweep
(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Jeff Keppinger hit a go-ahead solo home run in the ninth as the Houston Astros avoided a three-game sweep in St. Louis with a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals.
Houston scored two runs in the first before Matt Holliday hammered a solo home run in the second to pull the Redbirds to within a run.
Ryan Ludwick gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead with a two-run single in the sixth before Darin Erstad tied the game with an RBI double in the eighth.
With closer Ryan Franklin unavailable, the Cardinals went with Kyle McClellan in the ninth to close the game.
McClellan got the first two Astros he faced to ground out before giving up the game-winner to Keppinger.
St. Louis had a four-game winning streak snapped.
