Lewis Forced To "Wake Up" In Wake Of Suspension
(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University Quarterback Kellen Lewis spoke for the first time about his suspension last spring.
Lewis blames a "party lifestyle" for causing him to miss classes and team meetings.
While academics were not part of the problem, Lewis says his grades did start to slip.
Lewis was suspended indefinitely by head coach Bill Lynch last March and was given a set of guidelines he had to follow before he would be allowed to return to the team.
The junior from Jacksonville Florida says the series of events forced him to "grow up".
Lewis is battling redshirt sophomore Ben Chappell for the starting quarterback job.
