Old Faces To Miss Colts Training Camp
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Training camp for the Indianapolis Colts is three days away.
The players are due to report at Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute on Thursday with the first practice on Friday.
It will be a strange camp for the horseshoes thanks to the absence of quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning is expected to miss all of the Terre Haute portion of camp following knee surgery early last week. Veteran backup Jim Sorgi is expected to get the majority of repetitions at quarterback.
Manning is expected to return in time for the regular season opener on September 7th against the Chicago Bears.
The former MVP quarterback is not the only health concern for the Colts entering training camp. Veteran wide receiver Marvin Harrison missed significant time last season with an injury to his right knee. Harrison also underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee during the offseason.
Former Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney will also be under the microscope as he tries to come back from a season-ending foot injury and defensive player of the year Bob Sanders had offseason shoulder surgery that will probably keep him out of drills early in training camp.
